Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite - best tablet under 100.jpg

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite

Let me start by saying that this is easily the best tablet we’ve ever reviewed. It’s a Samsung Galaxy Tab for crying out loud and they somehow got the price down below $100.

This is the lite version, so a few things were sacrificed to lower that price tag. However the software and for the most part the performance remains unchanged. What is changed is the screen resolution is not the cutting edge clarity found on the non-lite tab. Instead it’s the standard 1024 x 600 that 90% of 7 inch tablets use. Also the processor is a different model but the effects have only been measured by gaming quality being affected by apps such as Grand Theft Auto. It can still be played, but we found that “medium” graphics were best used instead of “high”.

That’s it for the cons. The rest I have to say about this tablet is like reviewing pure gold.

It comes with 8gb of internal storage but that can easily be expanded with an SD card. Most people prefer to keep their important images and documents on a separate card anyway in case something happens to the tablet. You can grab a Samsung 32gb SD card on the cheap anyway.

The processor runs dual cores at 1.2GHZ. Surprisingly, even though it’s technically out classed by quad core processors, it held it’s own and was a pleasure to use. No lag in the touch screen or while switching through the apps. Samsung has done a really good job of optimizing their software for their hardware.

Because it’s a Samsung and not a discount off-brand it has a slew of accessories available so you will never have any trouble finding a new case or screen protector. You are also given a warranty on the tablet and 50GB of free online storage among other benefits.

Samsung also has a custom camera app which many find to be more intuitive and useful than the default android camera. With the included filters and setting the 2 MP camera is great to use. One feature which was popular to us was the face and smile detection.

Other premium features included with this tablet is an Accelerometer (used for tilt based games or Virtual Reality Gaming), Bluetooth 4.0, Wifi B/G/N, A-GPS (advanced GPS), and 1GB of RAM.

This tablet is perfect for surfing the web, browsing facebook, playing games, editing documents (it comes with office apps built in), or for business transactions.

Overall a highly recommended device.
